RCIY is more of a journey to encounter and experience God's love rather than an academic one. Over 9 months, we will cover the fundamental aspects of the Catholic Faith including interesting questions like Who is God?, our core beliefs and traditions. Feel free to ask as many questions in the process too!
The new cycle for 2022 begins with an introductory Welcome Tea session on Saturday, 9th July. You may sign up on our site or contact us at rciy.ignatius@gmail.com for more details.
Thereafter, sessions are held weekly until April 2023. There will be a few breaks in between for holidays etc.
While RCIY sessions are not compulsory and the choice to attend them will always be your decision, we do encourage you to make the best of your own journey.
Weekly sessions will be held between 1:30pm to 3:30pm every Saturday at the Church of St. Ignatius located at 120 King's Road.
No, the decision to get baptized is a deeply personal choice and you should make this decision carefully. The Church and RCIY team will always respect you and your decision at every step.
If you are below 21 and wish to get baptized at the end of the journey, you will be required to obtain parental consent to proceed.
No, RCIY is free to attend. Additional activities such as retreats are also heavily subsidized and the RCIY team aims to ensure that cost is never an issue for our youths.
A sponsor is a baptized Catholic who will be your spiritual companion during your journey. He/She is someone who will look out for you and be a friend to you.
Not to worry! If you do not have someone (e.g. a Catholic friend) who has agreed to be your sponsor, we will pair you with someone awesome from our team
The Catholic Church recognizes the validity of baptisms from most Christian traditions. As such, you will not need to be baptized again. Instead, you will be received into the Church at Easter and also receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist concurrently.
You may still join us at any time prior to the end of the pre-catechumenate period – this is usually before the end of the year. We will try to be as flexible as possible and encourage you to get in touch with us to see how we can help.
